The Cody Ringnecks chapter in North Platte was formed in 1992.  Rex was one of the original founders of the chapter and has served as the chapters President since 1998.  Since forming in 1992, the Cody Ringnecks Chapter of Pheasants Forever has conducted 7 Youth Mentor Hunt events for 76 kids in the Lincoln County Area.  Rexs chapter was the first chapter in the state to conduct a Youth Mentored Dove Hunt in 2006, and has been conducting a dove hunt each year since 2006.

With the help of the Nebraska Environmental Trust, the chapter purchased a native warm-season grass drill in 2007.  Since the purchase of the drill, the chapter has helped create over 1500 acres of habitat in Lincoln County!

Rexs chapter has spent over $635,000 on 1,108 habitat projects (101,518 total acres) since 1992.

Rexs chapter supports a number of state-wide habitat programs including Corners For Wildlife, CRP-MAP, Legislative Action Fund, and the State Habitat Raffle.  Since 1996, their have been over 64 corners enrolled in Lincoln County (491 acres).

In his spare time, Rex enjoys attending rodeos, deer hunting, and going to Nebraska Football games.  Rex resides in North Platte with his wife Doris and works for the University of Nebraska Extension Service as a Reasearch Project Coordinator.  Rex continues to lead his chapter to new heights each and every year, and Rex’s long term dedication to the organization certainly makes him worthy of this award.
