Gun-A-Week Raffle 7 Rolls Out This Week

This week marks the announcement of the new Gun-A-Week raffle and our first set of winners.  The Gun-A-Week raffle was an idea first announced and rolled out in Nebraska back in September 2004.  At that time, a raffle of this size and scale had never been attempted in the state.

Since the first raffle, the Gun-A-Week program has raised over $650,000 for use in some of our most important youth and habitat efforts across the state.  First and foremost, funds are used to support the Youth Mentor Hunt program that is a successful partnership crafted with the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission and working with youth in the state since 1996.  Each year, the Youth Mentor Hunt program works about 1,000 boys and girls across the state to introduce them to many of the aspects related to upland bird hunting in a mentored setting.  At every event, boys and girls receive a hat and specially embroidered hunting vest.

Other support that is provided by the Gun-A-Week raffle includes supporting the Rooster Tales newsletter that is delivered to15,000+ PF and QF members across the state, partnerships that provide wildlife biologists that work with landowners to enroll land in conservation programs and other statewide habitat programs.

In our 7th statewide raffle, the demand for raffle tickets was the highest we’ve experienced.  If you were unable to obtain raffle tickets this time around, Gun-A-Week Raffle 8 will be available in July 2010.  Watch this website for the next announcement and thanks for your support!
