2010 State Habitat Meeting Announced


Whilewe are still coming to grips with accepting fall changing to winter,it’s already time to start planning for the 2010 State HabitatMeeting.  The State Habitat Meeting is the largest wildlife managementgathering in the state where 450+ annually attend the meeting.  In2010, the meeting is shifting to Kearney where the event will be heldat a larger venue that accommodates the meetings growth and variety oftopics.

The meeting will be held on Saturday, February 6th at the Ramada Inn, Kearney.  Registration that providesaccess to over 37 presentations and includes a noon meal catered bySkeeter Barnes restaurant is just $30 when purchased by January 31st. Registrations after February 1st cost $40 per person.

This year’s agenda contains presentations on:
• Pheasant and quail management.
• Prescribed burning
• Grassland Management
• Managing your property for the “Big Picture”
• A new program to manage Wildlife management Areas
• Youth Mentored Dove Hunts
• Hunting Dog training, care and health tips
• The potential impacts of wind energy on wildlife
• The status of prescribed burning in the state
• An update on the ‘Reload Nebraska’ campaign
• Pheasants in Nebraska: a review of the Mail Carrier Survey, weather and land use changes
 Inaddition, this year will feature a “Poster Session” with additionalinformation about research and management happening throughout thecountry.
