Pheasants Forever Working with NGPC to Increase the Size of Wood Duck WMA

Pheasants Forever is working with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to add 160 acres to the Wood Duck WMA in Eastern Nebraska.  The 160 acre tract is bounded by the Wood Duck WMA on the North, East, and West sides (SeePicture).  The tract currently contains 52 acres of wetland, 5 acres of grassland, 3 acres of woodland, and 100 acres of crop land.

The southeast wetland is unique in that a small population of marsh-marigold exists. Marsh-marigold is a Tier II at-risk species identified by theNebraska Natural Legacy Project.  Wood Duck WMA and the adjacent property contain the only known wetlands with marsh-marigold in northeast Nebraska.

A number of PF chapters in Eastern NE are working together to come up with $10,000 in match to make this addition possible.
